Genus: Chindongo
Biotope: Rocky habitat. Occurs among rocks with little to no sediment, similar to other demasoni-like mbuna.
Geographic distribution: Lake Malawi (Mozambique coast). Exact range unclear.
Typical adult size: Unknown; likely small mbuna, comparable in size to Chindongo demasoni.
Sexual dimorphism: Not clearly documented. Sexes appear similar in coloration.
Recommended aquarium size: 300 L or larger.
Aquarium setup: Dense rockwork with many caves and visual barriers. Minimal open sand areas.
Diet: Aufwuchs-based diet. Grazes algae and associated microorganisms.
Breeding: Maternal mouthbrooder. Likely similar to other demasoni-type mbuna.
Aggression: High intraspecific aggression expected, especially between males.
Special notes: Undescribed species closely resembling Chindongo demasoni. Populations from the Mozambique coast differ subtly in pattern and coloration. Taxonomic status unresolved; may represent a distinct species or geographic variant.
