Geographic distribution: Lake Malawi
Typical adult size: Up to about 15 cm
Sexual dimorphism: Males darker coloured than females; females remain silvery
Diet: Plankton feeder
Breeding: Maternal mouthbrooder
Special notes: Originally described as Haplochromis nkatae (Iles, 1960)
