Special notes:
Aulonocara auditor has never been recognized in the field after its original description and has never been exported for the aquarium hobby.
It is a small species that resembles A. stuartgranti in some characters but differs by having tricuspid teeth in the inner tooth rows
and an unusual pigmentation pattern consisting of two horizontal rows of spots on the body.
The holotype has three rows of scales on the cheek, a feature not typical of sand-dwelling Aulonocara,
making its placement within the genus uncertain.
The species is currently listed as Data Deficient, and its true distribution and ecology remain unknown.
