Biotope: Sandy habitats, occasionally near scattered rocks.
Geographic distribution: Lake Malawi (exact distribution unclear).
Typical adult size: Large species, likely exceeding 30 cm
Diet: Piscivorous predator.
Aggression: Calm toward similarly sized fishes; smaller species are prey.
Special notes: Unclear taxonomic status. Often used as a provisional name for large-mouthed Buccochromis specimens that cannot be reliably assigned to described species.
