Genus: Copadichromis
Type locality: Nkhata Bay, near Katenda Rock, Lake Malawi
Biotope: Intermediate to open-water habitat associated with rocky areas
Geographic distribution: Lake Malawi
Typical adult size: Up to about 16 cm
Sexual dimorphism: Males grow slightly larger and develop more intense breeding coloration; females remain smaller and less vividly coloured
Recommended aquarium size: Minimum 300 litres; aquarium length at least 120 cm
Aquarium setup: Fine sand substrate with some rock structures; sufficient open swimming space
Diet: Primarily plankton feeder
Breeding: Maternal mouthbrooder; males establish territories near suitable structures during spawning
Aggression: Generally peaceful; males may be territorial during breeding
Special notes: Previously described as Haplochromis pleurostigmoides and Cyrtocara pleurostigmoides
