Genus: Lethrinops
Type locality: Lake Malawi.
Biotope: Sandy bottoms in relatively shallow water.
Geographic distribution: Entire Lake Malawi.
Typical adult size: Males up to 19 cm TL in the lake (up to about 21 cm TL in aquarium); females up to about 16 cm TL.
Diet: Feeds by sifting sand for invertebrates and small crustaceans; also feeds on plankton.
Special notes: In the aquarium trade this species is often offered as Lethrinops sp. 'green head' or Lethrinops sp. 'green face'.
