Lethrinops sp. 'mbasi' (unknown locality)
Genus: Lethrinops
Biotope: Sandy environment. Lives at depths of 15–35 m.
Typical adult size: 14 cm (male) / 11 cm (female).
Recommended aquarium size: 400 L.
Aquarium setup: Minimum aquarium length 140 cm. The bottom should consist mainly of sand. Sandy areas should be interrupted with a few larger stones, while still leaving extensive open sandy zones.
Diet: Carnivorous. Feeds on various invertebrates, small crustaceans, and insect larvae hunted in the sand. Foraging usually takes place in groups.
Aggression: Peaceful cichlid, both within the species and towards other species. Due to low intraspecific aggression, several males are often colored simultaneously in a group.
