Mylochromis obtusus (unknown locality)
Genus: Mylochromis
Type locality: South West Arm between the Bar and Nkhudzi, Lake Malawi
Biotope: Primarily sand-dwelling species occurring over sandy substrates.
Typical adult size: Slightly larger than 18 cm total length.
Sexual dimorphism: Breeding males develop blue coloration on an otherwise silvery body.
Breeding: Aquarium observations indicate that males prepare a spawning site on the sand. Eggs are mouthbrooded by the female.
Special notes: Characterized by an oblique stripe and belongs to the group of mainly sand-dwelling Mylochromis with such markings. It may engage in egg-robbing behavior similar to other Malawi haplochromines, as suggested by aquarium observations.
