Placidochromis nkhatae 'Nkhata Bay'
Genus: Placidochromis
Type locality: Nkhata Bay, Lake Malawi, Malawi
Biotope: Deep-water habitat at about 50 m depth, living in subdued light conditions and displaying a generally bottom-dwelling habitus.
Geographic distribution: South Bay, Nkhata Bay, Malawi.
Special notes: Assigned by Hanssens (2004) to group 4 of the deep-water Placidochromis assemblage, characterized within that framework by 8–10 gill rakers and a barred melanin pattern. Described as a heavily built species resembling a small Mylochromis but lacking a diagonal stripe.
