Special notes:
Included among the deep-water
Placidochromis species recognized after
Hanssens (2004) documented numerous
deep-living taxa from below 50 m.
Assigned to the deep-water assemblage
in which species broadly resemble each
other in a barred melanin pattern while
differing in multiple morphological
characters.
