Placidochromis rotundifrons 'Msaka'
Genus: Placidochromis
Type locality: Msaka, Lake Malawi, Malawi
Biotope: Deep-water habitat below 50 m, belonging to a deep-living Placidochromis species flock composed mainly of small, bottom-dwelling taxa in subdued light.
Geographic distribution: Collected along the SW–SE transect north of the Nankumba Peninsula, along the transect between Mazinzi Bay and Kadango, off Msaka, and at Kande Beach, all in Malawi.
Special notes: Placed in Hanssens’ deep-water group 5, a set of species characterized by broadly similar vertical barring but diverse morphology within the genus.
