Lake Malawi cichlids — species, locations & maps

Genus:	Petrotilapia
Biotope:	Deep habitat with flat stones scattered over sandy bottom; recorded at about 22 m depth.
Geographic distribution:	Known from Chitimba Bay south of Chilumba, including Chitimba Reef.
Sexual dimorphism:	Territorial males blue with yellow fins. Females and juveniles show a pattern of a few broad black bars.
Special notes:	Lacks a black submarginal band in the dorsal fin. The population at Chitimba Reef is small and limited numbers have been used to establish an aquarium population. A related form from Gallireya Reef was described as Petrotilapia xanthos.
