Males are bright yellow with a narrow black submarginal band in the ventral fins and a dark edge to the anal fin. Females are gray. Males differ subtly from the yellow male form of T. sp. ‘macrophthalmus chitimba’ in fin markings and body proportions.
Special notes:
Member of the “macrophthalmus chitimba” complex. Distinguished from T. sp. ‘macrophthalmus chitimba’ and T. sp. ‘macrophthalmus chitimba blue’ by gray females and slight morphological differences, including a slightly shallower body and less acute snout compared to the yellow-female form.
