Genus: Labidochromis
Biotope: Sediment-free rocky habitat.
Geographic distribution: Northwestern Lake Malawi; recorded from Chirwa Island, Luwino Reef, Katale Island, and the coast between Chilumba harbor and Chirwa Island (Luromo Peninsula).
Typical adult size: Up to 9 cm.
Recommended aquarium size: Minimum aquarium length 110 cm, or at least 250 L.
Diet: Feeding behavior similar to insectivorous species, although analyses of gigas-like Labidochromis indicate algae as the predominant gut content.
Aggression: Territoriality has not been observed.
Special notes: Blue-barred gigas-like Labidochromis. Females are overall brown without black markings, with brown fins. Occurs at geographically isolated reefs and islands.
