Sediment-free rocky habitats around islands and reefs,
associated with small to medium-sized rocks.
Geographic distribution:
Occurs at Chizumulu Island and surrounding reefs.
Sexual dimorphism:
Females are bluish brown; males differ in coloration
and show typical elongate Tropheops morphology.
Aggression:
Males are weakly territorial and the species appears
less aggressive and less shy than elongate forms retained
in Pseudotropheus.
Special notes:
An elongate member of Tropheops formerly
included in the Pseudotropheus elongatus species group.
Characterized by a rounded head profile and feeding posture
nearly parallel to the substrate. Closely resembles
Tropheops sp. ‘elongatus mbako’.
