Genus: Chindongo
Biotope: Rocky habitat. Typically associated with shallow rocky areas with crevices and small caves.
Geographic distribution: Lake Malawi. Exact range unclear; known only from limited local observations.
Typical adult size: Small-sized mbuna, approximately 6–7 cm total length.
Sexual dimorphism: Poorly documented. Males are presumed to be slightly larger and more intensely colored than females.
Recommended aquarium size: 200–250 L.
Aquarium setup: Dense rockwork with numerous hiding places. Provide multiple caves to allow territory formation and reduce aggression.
Diet: Herbivorous. Feeds primarily on algae and microorganisms from aufwuchs.
Breeding: Maternal mouthbrooder. No population-specific breeding observations available.
Aggression: Moderate intraspecific aggression. Territorial behavior expected in males.
