Genus: Sciaenochromis
Biotope: Deep-water habitats.
Special notes: A predatory form reported from the northern half of Lake Malawi, including Likoma Island. It shows a melanin pattern consisting of a horizontal stripe composed of three elongate spots merging into one another and a diagonal stripe running from the front of the dorsal fin to the mid-flank, where it joins the horizontal stripe to form a large, elongate blotch. This pattern distinguishes it from other related forms and it is regarded as a separate, undescribed species.
