Genus: Mylochromis
Type locality: Monkey Bay, Lake Malawi, Malawi.
Biotope: Sandy habitat; observed hunting over sand at about 35 m depth.
Geographic distribution: Recorded from Makokola Reef and Luwala Reef, and also reported from Mbenji Island.
Typical adult size: About 25 cm total length.
Diet: Piscivorous; hunts small fishes over sandy bottoms.
Breeding: Territorial males defend small, shallow spawning pits in the sand near rocks. Mouthbrooding females move over the sand.
