Genus: Lethrinops
Type locality: Mvera beach, Lake Malombe, Malawi.
Geographic distribution: Endemic to Lake Malawi.
Typical adult size: Small species, adult size below 140 mm standard length.
Special notes: Adult males have a distinctive orange-brown nape and upper head, which separates this species from other shallow-water Lethrinops (Ngatunga & Snoeks, 2003). In the book “Offshore Cichlids of Lake Malawi”, Turner referred to this species as Lethrinops “pink head”.
