Genus: Nyassachromis
Biotope: Deep sandy habitats in the northern part of Lake Malawi, recorded at a depth of about 36 m at Mphanga Rocks.
Geographic distribution: Known only from Mphanga Rocks in the northern part of Lake Malawi.
Typical adult size: Breeding males up to about 10 cm total length.
Aquarium setup: Requires open sandy substrate to allow males to construct tall sand turrets with a slightly slanted spawning dish on top.
Breeding: Territorial males build tall turrets on open sand. The spawning dish at the top of the structure is slightly inclined.
Aggression: Males are territorial during the breeding period and defend their constructed turrets.
Special notes: Considered probably the smallest species within the genus based on the maximum size of breeding males.
