| Genus: | Tropheops |
| Biotope: | Intermediate habitat; also found from shallow rocky zones down to where rocks meet sand at about 12 m in areas without competing congeners. |
| Geographic distribution: | Maleri Islands (all three) and Namalenje Island (Lake Malawi). |
| Sexual dimorphism: | Males are yellow. Females are yellow and belong to the double-stripe group pattern. |
| Special notes: | Member of the double-stripe group. Around the Maleri Islands it is mainly restricted to the upper intermediate habitat due to the presence of several other Tropheops species. At Namalenje Island, where it is the only representative of the genus, it occupies a much broader depth range. |
