Genus: Petrotilapia
Biotope: Sediment-free rocky habitat.
Geographic distribution: Along the shores of Mozambique at Tumbi Point.
Special notes: Member of the P. nigra group. Considered distinct from P. chrysos due to the absence of yellow coloration in the dorsal fin and on the body. Very similar to southern P. nigra but regarded as a separate species; differs from the nearby population of P. sp. ‘yellow ventral’ at Mbweca.
