Genus: Tropheops
Biotope: Sediment-free rocky habitat.
Geographic distribution: Likoma Island, Lake Malawi.
Sexual dimorphism: Females are described as very dark.
Special notes: This form is placed in the “black-type” Tropheops group, which is defined by a black band in the dorsal fin and vertical barring on a dark background. It is distinguished from some related members of the complex by the absence of body barring.
