Genus: Tropheops
Biotope: Sediment-free rocky habitats around islands and reefs, associated with small to medium-sized rocks.
Geographic distribution: Occurs at Chizumulu Island and surrounding reefs.
Sexual dimorphism: Females are bluish brown; males differ in coloration and show typical elongate Tropheops morphology.
Aggression: Males are weakly territorial and the species appears less aggressive and less shy than elongate forms retained in Pseudotropheus.
Special notes: An elongate member of Tropheops formerly included in the Pseudotropheus elongatus species group. Characterized by a rounded head profile and feeding posture nearly parallel to the substrate. Closely resembles Tropheops sp. ‘elongatus mbako’.
