Genus: Taeniolethrinops
Biotope: Open sandy areas over a sand bottom.
Geographic distribution: Near Ntekete on the eastern shores of Lake Malawi.
Typical adult size: About 20 cm total length.
Breeding: Breeding males build sand-castle bowers on open sand, roughly 1 m in diameter. Several bowers were observed in November at around 15 m depth.
Special notes: Reported to resemble Taeniolethrinops furcicauda but differs by a shorter snout and a larger eye.
