Wave-washed rocky habitat in the upper surge zone.
Geographic distribution:
Otter Island, Lake Malawi.
Typical adult size:
Approximately 10 cm.
Aquarium setup:
In nature this species inhabits turbulent shallow rocky areas. Territories usually include
a large rock, and spawning takes place alongside or beneath such structures.
Aggression:
Males defend territories vigorously, chasing intruders from the entire rock that forms
the core of the territory.
Special notes:
This species is adapted to life in strong surge conditions in the upper rocky zone,
similar to other shallow-water Tropheops.
