Genus: Placidochromis
Type locality: Chiwanga Bay, Lake Malawi, Mozambique
Geographic distribution: Lake Malawi at Chiwanga Bay, Mozambique.
Biotope: Deep-water habitat, recorded from 49–61 m, within the deep-living Placidochromis assemblage occurring below about 50 m depth.
Special notes: Member of the deep-water Placidochromis radiation described by Hanssens (2004). Assigned to group 5 of this assemblage, which comprises species characterized by 11–13 gill rakers.
